Playing in the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association’s Gawith Shield competition on Saturday the Masterton Club defeated Carterton by lx matches, 16 sets and 248 games to 6 matches, 6 sets and 176 games. Following are the section result?, the first figures relating to Masterton:—Men’s singles, 4 matches, 10 sets, SO games; 2 matches, 5 sets, 51 games. Ladies’ singles, 3 matches, 50 games; 2 matches, 43 games. Men’s doubles, 3 matches, 6 sets, 40 games; 0 matches, 1 set, 33 games. Ladies* doubles, matches., 27 games; 0 match es, lx games. Combined doubles, 5 matches, 51 games; 1 match, 31 games. In a B grade match Memorial defeated Lansdowne and in the <’ grade Park beat St. Matthew’s by 17 sets and 160 games to 7 sets and 9-' games. Memorial Park Club defeated Greytown by 14 matches to 10 in the Gawith Shield A grade competition.
