STATE THEATRE.
“IT’S LOVE AGAIN.” “It’s Love Again,” which heads the programme to be shown again at the State Theatre to-night at 8 o’clock enjoyed a highly successful run in Australia. Reviewing it, the “Sydney Daily Telegraph” said: M This will be judged Jessie Matthews’s finest picture. The star, alone among English actresses, in having true international appeal, combines that adorable qiomedy of hers with some lovely dancing, backed by the most polished spectacle that the English screen has given us. “It’s Love Again” offers a generously diverting story. Unable to get work on the stage, Jessie posts as one Mrs. SmytheSmythe, professional beauty, tigerhunter, and eccentric. Unfortunately, for Jessie, the lady is an invention by a harrassed gossip writer, faced with snatching exclusive news or losing his job. Sonnie Hale jumps gleefully into the resultant mess, advising Jessie and writer Robert Young by turns. Jessie’s impersonating ends in a shooting match with her real-life father-in-law, Robert Hale. This Gaumont-British comedy is spangled by Jessie’s typically haunting songs, “It’s Love Again,” “Tony’s in Town,” “Got to Dance my Way to Heaven” and “I Nearly let Love go Slipping Through my Fingers.” Reserves at F. J Adcock’s, ’phone 1275.
