Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reas follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, -9-96; shade temperature, maximum, 66.7; minimum, J>4.9; terrestrial, 50.1; sunshine, 4 hours 9 minutes; rain, 5 points.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday; An intense westerly depression is crossing the Dominion to-day and another is approaching across the Tasman pressure has risen somewhat over south-eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, north-westerly, strong to gale and in places reaching strong gale force, backing to westerly and later in many parts to south-westerly. Weather: Unsettled and boisterous, with rain in most districts, some heavy falls in western areas from Taranaki southwards but especially in Westland, where flooded rivers probable; thunder and hail in places; temperatures mild, particularly in tho eastern provinces but a cold change setting in generally during the week-end.
