WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.17; shade temperature, maximum, 67.9; minimum, 43.2; terrestrial, 33.1; sunshine, 11 hours 51 minutes.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A succession of rather intense depressions of the westerly type is crossing the South Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, while pressure continues high to the north. Forecast: Winds, westerly to north-westerly still prevailing, moderate to strong generally, with frequent squalls of gale force in many places south of New Plymouth and papier. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in the western districts from Taranaki southwards and the far south, with rain at times and some heavy falls in Westland. Elsewhere fair at first, but rain extending shortly to most districts with a westerly aspect. Some scattered falls likely also in eastern areas. Temperatures mainly moderate, but warm at times east of the main ranges.
