TWO BIG ATTRACTIONS.
The gangster’s cloak of glamour has been stripped from him in Richard Dix’s new picture, *‘Special Investigator,” one of the two features to be shown at the State Theatre to-day at 2.15 and 8 p.m. Telling the ruthless vengeance of a gangland “mouthpiece” upon the men he had been protecting with his legal brilliance, when one of them slays his brother, this RKO Radio film is reported to go the whole way in shattering romantic ideas about public enemies. Margaret Callahan joins Dix in this turbulent romance. Others in the cast are Erik Rhodes, Sheila Terry, Owen Davis Jnr. and J. Carroll Nftish. Two engaging youngsters win their big film chance together in ‘‘The First Baby,” the second feature. They are Johnny Downs and lovely Shirley Deane. Heading the cast of ‘‘The First Baby,” they portray a pair of honest-to-goodness youngsters who marry and find out all about the triumphs and troubles of wedded bliss.
