WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.29; shade temperature, maximum, 67.5; minimum, 36.7; terrestrial, 27.4; sunshine, 5 hours 22 nrinutes; rain, 14 points.
Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 14 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday: An anti-eyclone extends over northern New Zealand but a fresh westerly depression of moderate intensity is advancing rapidly across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, westerly to north-westerly prevailing, force mainly moderate at first but increasing and later reaching gale force at places about Cook and Foveaux Straits, changing to south westerly in the southern portion of the South Island during to-morrow. Weather: Fair to fine generally at first hsit soon clouding over and rain developing in the western and southern portions of the South Island, later scattered rains probable also in the western districts of the North Island; temperatures mild but becoming cooler to-morrow in the South Island.
