WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.37; shade temperature, maximum, 64.5; minimum, 34.3; terrestrial, 24.8; sunshine, 8 hours 18 minutes; frost, 5.6 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone is crossing northern New Zealand while a fresh depression is advancing rapidly across the Tasman Sea; pressure has risen considerably over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, northerly to northwesterly, strong about Cook and Foveaux Straits and in places reaching gale force, elsewhere moderate but increasing generally south of New Plymouth and Napier, a southerly change setting in during to-night in the far south and extending over the Dominion within the next 24 to 36 hours. Weather: Unsettled in the western and southern portions of the South Island, with rain in many parts, elsewhere fair to fine at first but rain extending to most districts with the southerly change; temperatures mild but becoming cold during to-morrow.
