GIRLS EDUCATIONAL WEEK.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR GATHERING IN MASTEBTON. Among the various movements sponsored by the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union one of the most successful has been that of Girls’ Educational Week. Beginning in Otago and Canterbury, the movement has spread rapidly to other provinces, and this year the Wairarapa is making its first essay in this direction. Country girls will be selected by the various branches pf the Women’s Division in the Wairarapa to spend the week, from October 5 to October 9 inclusive in Masterton. The girls will either stay with friends or be billeted. With the collaboration of the secondary schools principals and staffs and others interested, a series of educational talks and lecture demonstrations will be arranged. The girls will also be entertained socially, and will visit various places of local interest such as the Park, Masterton Hosiery Mills, and Butter Factory.
The Women’s Division proposes to provide the girls with dinner, afternoon tea and supper, and those interested in the scheme are asked for their assistance, either in kind or by donation, to the commissariat department. A full programme, to be published later, is being drawn up by Mesdames A. C. Gawith, C. A. Burling and T. R. Barrer.
