CORRIGAN RECAPTURED.
AFTER ESCAPE FROM PORI RUA ON SUNDAY. WELLINGTON, August 13. John Dillon Corrigan, who escaped from Porirua Mental Hospital on Sunday last, was recaptured early this morning by the Levin police while walking along the main north road, near the Whirokino Bridge, in the direction of Levin. It is understood that Corrigan had been taking refuge In clumps of bush during the day, and was making his way north .during the night. About midday on Tuesday he was seen in the vicinity of Pukerua Bay, and is stated to have called at a house in that district, and also to have purchased some biscuits. It is not known how he obtained the money. A large party of warders conducted the search, and both the Manawatu Gorge and the Rimutaka road were watched, as it was believed that Corrigan would jeturn to Eketahuna, where he had spent his early life. Corrigan is being returned under escort to Porirua Mental Asylum.—(P.A.) <
