Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30; shade temperature, maximum, 61.3; minimum, 31.9; terrestrial, 23.6; sunshine, 2 hours 54 minutes; rain, 2 points; frost, 6.8 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Pressure has risen slightly over South-Eastern Australia, but a succession of intense westerly depressions continues to move from the south coast of Australia across the Southern Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. Forecast: Winds, moderate to strong northwesterly to westerly, still reaching gale force at times in many places. Weather: Changeable and squally, with further intermittent rain in districts with a westerly aspect, and some heavy falls in Westland. Fair to fine for the most part in Eastern districts, but scattered showers probable, especially inland or on the ranges. Temperatures mild. Bun rises, 6.44 p.m.; sets, 5.7 p.m. L:ghting-up time, 5.37 p.m.
