METHODIST CHURCH.
ANNIVERSARY AT KURIPUNI. The thirty-sixth anniversary of the Methodist Church at Kuripuni was celebrated yesterday and will conclude to-night when a programme will be presented of more than usual merit. Supper will be provided by the ladies of the congregation. The preacher at both services yesterday was the Rev. E. E. Sage, of Petone, who preached eloquent and inspiring addresses rich in spiritual content and power to good congregations. The choir under the eonductorship of Mr. W. Davies led the praise throughout in a manner befitting the occasion. In the morning they sang with great acceptance the anthems “The Lord Shall Comfort Zion’’ and “Stand Up for Jesus,’’ and Miss Evelyn Jones sang the solo “The Children’s Home.’’ In the evening augmented by helpers from the Wesley choir the anthems were “Saviour Breathe an Evening Blessing’’ and “Son of My Soul.’’ The soloist was Mrs. J. H. Conly who sang with great effect and appeal the solo “I Know that My Redeemer Liveth.” The preacher's text in the morning was “Study to be Quiet’’ and in the evening “Chosen to be Fruitful.’’ This was one of the most inspiring addresses heard for long time and the service throughout was most helpful.
