FIERCE WRESTLING.

GEORGE WALKER IN SYDNEY. LURICH DISQUALIFIED. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 26. At the Leichhardt Stadium, after fifty-four minutes of a scheduled two hours’ wrestling bout between George Walker, New Zealand champion and Tom Lurich, Empire champion, the referee, Jack Clark, disqualified Lurich. Clark who was refereeing at the Leichhardt Stadium for the first time, handled the match, which at times was particularly fierce, extremely well. Lurich, after subjecting Walker to a gruelling series of headlocks, eventually clamped on his renowned body scissors, to pin Walker after thirty-eight minutes. Walker, however, was not long in equalising and fourteen minutes later secured a fall following a number of well-executed flying mares. Immediately upon resuming, Lurich threw discretion to the winds and, after ignoring a caution from the referee for rough work, was disqualified.
