WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.23; shade temperature, maximum, 46.8; minimum, 41.3; terrestrial, 42.0; rain, 61j points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 53 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A rather intense anti-cyclone covers the North Tasman Sea and extends across southern New Zealand; a depression is still located east of the North Island but is passing slowly away. Forecast: Winds light and variable south of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, with northerlies predominating, elsewhere moderate to strong southerly, stm reaching gale force at places but decreasing gradually. Weather: Still changeable and squally in the North Island and the north-east portion of the South Island, with passing showers but improving shortly, elsewhere fair to fine; temperatures cold with sharp inland frosts. Sun rises, 7.9 a.m.; sets, 4.46 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.16 p.m.
