JAPAN PREPARED TO RENEW TALKS. ON BASIS OF EXISTING POSITION. AUSTRALIAN MINISTER’S STATEMENT. (Received Monday, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 20. Sir H. Gullett announced that the Japanese consul, Mr. Murai, had informed him that Japan was prepared to renew trade negotiations with Australia on the basis of the existing trade position. Mr. Murai is awaiting instructions from Tokio and it is expected that negotiations will be resumed next week.
