MINISTER ON TOUR.
UNCOMPLETED DARGAVTLLE RAILWAY. WHANGAREI, July 7. The Hon. R. Semple (Minister of Public Works) arrived this afternoon and was accorded a civic welcome tonight. He addresses a publie. meeting to-morrow night. This morning he inspected the uncompleted Dargaville railway and though he d'id not commit himself expressed the belief that if the line would render service it would be wise to spend a further £40,000 to ’omplete an undertaking that had cost £450,000. Mr. Semple told a Kaikohe deputation that a licence for an approved local electric supply plant would be granted provided it did not compete with the national scheme when Arapuni power was available.— (P.A.)
