FEARS UNFOUNDED.
PIG SHOOTER TURNS UP SAFE. NIGHT SPENT IN RANGES. Fears which were entertained on Sunday night for the safety of Leonard Morris, an 18-year-old youth, who was overdue from a pig shooting expedition in the foothills at the back of Dalefield, were set at rest late yesterday afternoon when the youth made his way out unaided. The lad left his home 'in Carterton at 5.30 a.m. on Sunday and was expected back that night. He proceeded up Beef Creek and when he had not returned yesterday morning anxiety was felt for his safety. A search party in charge of Constable A. Gregor, of Greytown, searched the foothills around Beef Creek yesterday and was actually still in the hills when Morris made his way out by way of Devil’s Creek. The youth, who was not distressed by his night in theopen, encountered rough weather in the hills and decided to camp for the night and to continue hie journey in the morning.
