WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 29.25; shade temperature, maximum, 53.8; minimum, 45.7; terrestrial, 41.6; sunshine, 1 hour; rain, 42 points. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 45 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A very intense and extensive westerly depression covers the New Zealand area and is moving eastwards; an anti-cyclone is located over Eastern Australia and is advancing on to the Western Tasman. Forecast: Winds southerly in the far south, elsewhere westerly but south-westerly or southerlies extending over the Dominion shortly, force strong to gale, in places reaching strong gale. Weather: Stormy and changeable, with heavy showers in most districts, hail in places, snow on the high country; temperatures becoming cold, improving later in the west coast of the South Island. Sun rises, 7.16 a.m.; sets, 4.35 p.m. L ghting-up time, 5.5 p.m.
