CARTERTON BAND.

BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Carterton Municipal Band was held on Thursday night. Mr. D. N. Adams was elected to the chair. The annual report and balance sheet were considered very satisfactory. A note of warning regarding expenditure was sounded by the hon. auditor, Mr. H. M. B. Trapp, and this furnished members with some food for thought regarding the future conduct of the band’s affairs. The conductor’s report, which was also of a highly satisfactory nature, was adopted. Votes of thanks were accorded the ladies’ committee, the retiring officers, conduetor and press for services rendered. A special vote of appreciation was also tendered Mr. D. NT. Adams for his services to the band. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—Patron, Mr. W. B. Allen; president, Mr. W. Howard Booth; vice-presidents, Messrs P. Bannin, R. G. Kemble, W. J. Ticehurst, W. Fisher, G. Hughan, W. Sorenson, W. H. Booth and Dr. W. J. C. Wells; bandmaster, Mr. J. Cosgrove; corporal, R. Haste; lance-corporal, P. Beere; custodian, T. Ray; treasurer, V. N. Gordon; secretary, H. A. McPhee; tutor, Mr. J. Cosgrove; military instructor, Mr. R. P. Wakelin; committee, Messrs Ray, Harris, Gordon, McPhee, and three citizens yet to be elected. At the conclusion of the meeting, those present were entertained at supper by the patron, Mr. W. E. Allen.
