WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30.1; shade temperature, maximum, 48.2; minimum, 30.5; terrestrial, 22.8; rain, 39 points; frost, 7.6 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. K'idson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity covers the North Tasman Sea and extends on to northern New Zealand and a slight one is centred near Tasmania; a westerly depression is approaching across the south Tasman. Forecast: Winds south-westerly at first north of New Plymouth and Napier, otherwise north-westerly... to westerly prevailing, light to moderate generally but soon freshening about and south of Cook Strait, backing to south-westerly shortly in the far south and southerlies again becoming general within 24 to 36 hours. Weather: Changeable and with scattered rain in districts with a westerly aspect and the far south, mainjy fair in eastern areas but showers extending later to eastern parts of the South Island.
