W.F.C.A. STAFF BALL.
MUNICIPAL HALL CROWDED. RECORD DOOB TAKINGS. The Masterton Municipal Hall l was crowded with dancers last night on the occasion of the annual staff ball of the W.F.C.A. Ltd. In the brightly-deeora-ted hall, the scene was a gay one indeed and the success of the hall ex- , ceeded expectations. The takings con- _. ■tituted a record. The decorations in the main hall were the work of Messrs J. Wakelin, D. Costello and R. Ward, assisted by the wives of committee members. Mr. J. Watkin was responsible for the stage decorations and Mr. F. West for those in the supper room. The M ’s.C. were Messrs V. -Taylor, D. Hogg, J. Wakelin, R. Ward, G. Daabney and R. Whiteman. The debutantea were received by Mrs. C. M. Bowden. Supper was provided 1 by a ladies’ committee assisted by the wives of staffi members. The Blue River Dance Band played the music for the dancing and extras were provided by Te Tao’s Orchestra. Much credit was due to Mice R. S. Gadsby and Mr. A. O’Leary, the joint secretaries, whose untiring work was largely responsible for the sueceee of the ball.
The hostesses were Mesdames C. M. Bowden, J. H. Cunningham, Trevor Beetham, T. Jordan, F. E. Wells, and J. Caselberg.
The debutantes were: Misses Molly Sheet (Greytown), June McCarlie (Wellington), Joan Perry (Tinui), Daphne Darcy (Masterton), Molly Stimpson (Masterton), Elsie Barnes (Masterton), Verna Palamontain (Masterton), Joan Joyce (Masterton), Joy Grantham (Masterton), Erina Rus-
sell (Masterton), and Iris Kilgour (Masterton). The committees were as follow:— Ladies: Misses R. Gadsby, Holman, Preston, Wells, McCalmont, Lewin, Pike, Barnes and McKenzie, and Mrs. Wilkinson. Men’s: Messrs D. Hogg, D. Costello, G. Daubney, B. Ward, J. Wakelin, Watkin, D. Wellington, A. Wellington, F. West, M. Nicol, and R. Johnston.
