AIR TRAGEDY.
AMERICAN GOODWILL ’PLANE LOST. CRASH IN LAKE CHAMPLAIN. PILOT AND THREE OTHERS KILLED. (Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 27. Disaster to-day overtook the New York to Montreal goodwill flight, which is an annual event for amateur aviators. One of the thirty aeroplanes taking part crashed in Lake Champlain, killing the four occupants. Two otter machines were forced down and damaged, although nobody was injured. Only four of the craft finished the flight in the scheduled time. The remainder are accounted for, having been safely grounded at various points en route to Montreal. The "plane lost in Lake Champlain whs a cabin monoplane piloted by Mr. Frank Saglimbene, of New York, who was killed with three companions. In their haste to start, the aviators refused to wait for detailed weather reports, which apparently was the cause of their misfortune.
