, " r - a ” d Mrs - T*V. Caverhill have eft on a trip to Rotorua and AuekJana. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Morgan, Renal’ •Street, have returned from a visit to Mrs. Morgan’s parents, the Hon. A. D. McLeod and Mrs. McLeod, Martinborough.

The death has occurred of a well known Maori, Mrs. Erina Korou Nini, of Te Ore Ore. The funeral will take place at the Tc Ore Ore Cemetery at 1 p.m. to-day.

The Wairarapa Power Board, at its meeting yesterday, decided to send a letter to Mr. J. W. A. Fhlloon. a member of the board, who is laid aside with illness, expressing the hope that he would have a speedy recovery te health.

The death occurred at the Pahiatua Hospital yesterday morning of Mr. Edward Fargher, of Eketahuna. The late. Mr. Fargher, who had been in failing health for some time, was well known in the Masterton district, where he followed farming pursuits for many years and latterly he had been living with his nephew, Mr. John Fargher, Pleckville. He was 76 years of age and was unmarried. The funeral will leave the residence of Mr. J. Fargher, Pleckville, at 2 p.m. to-morrow (Saturday) for the Eketahuna Cemetery.

A most enjoyable afternoon was spent at the Women’s Country Club, Chapel Street, on Tuesday when Mesdames Hugh and Peter McLaren entertained a number of ladies at a gift afternoon for Miss Flo McKaiu, who is to be married shortly. The stormy conditipns of the day presented a number of country people from attending. Various competitions were held and proved most amusing. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, after which the guest of honour opened the large number of parcels which contained some beautiful and useful gifts. Miss McKain expressed her thanks for the lovely gifts and the pleasant afternoon. Among those present were Mesdames Woodhouse, T. Caverhill, Ken Sutherland, D. Morrison, R. Page, B. Iveson, K. McLaren and the Misses N. Woodhouse, M. Caverhill, L. Williams, P. Roydhouse, McKay (2), and E. Sutherland. ' .
