(Received This Day, 0.15 a.m.) TOKIO, June 8. • i Baron Sakatani, president of the Australian-Japan Society, said he had cabled to the Australian Prime Minister and Sir Henry Gullett, as well as to Sir J. G. Latham, former Common* wealth Attorney-General, saying that he would be unable to intervene against Japanese retaliation upon the Australian tariff unless Australia modified her present policy. Sir J. G. Latham replied that at present feeling was well disposed toward Japan, but that anti-Australian action might press Australia to retaliate, with serious results to Japan’s trade.
