HERRIOT DECLINES OFFICE. ROYALIST LEADER SENT TO GAOL. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) PARIS, May 23. M. Herriot declined M. Blum’s invitation to take up the Foreign Secretaryship. Maurras, the Royalist leader, was sentenced to eight months ’ imprisonment and fined 200 francs for inciting the murder of M. Blum in recent articles in the 11 Action Franchise” declaring that if M. Blum’s policy should lead .to war, Frenchmen should use carving knives to eliminate him and his followers.
