SHOWING THE FLAG.

MARCH OF BRITISH TROOPS IN PALESTINE. POPULATION IMPRESSED. SOLDIERS WELL RECEIVED. (Received Tuesday, 9.40 p.m.) LONDON, May 19. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Jerusalem correspondent says a comprehensive scheme of “showing the flag” was carried out yesterday throughout Palestine by four columns of British infantry, accompanied by armoured ears, and light tanks. Reports show that the troops were well received and that the local population was impressed. Further marches may be ordered today unless the situation eases. (Other messages relating to the disorders in Palestine appear on page 7).
