DISTRICT NEWS.
SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. MARTINBOROUGH. (“The Age” Special.) The East Coast and Tablelands Ball held in the Town Hall on Tuesday last was an outstanding success, the hall being thronged with dancers from all over the Wairarapa and also from Wellington. The decorations were original and beautiful; coloured lights, greenery and celophane glowers transformed the hall. Frank Gedson’s Orchestra supplied the music and the committee is to be congratulated on the success of its efforts. The profits go to the Martinborough Carnival Queen. Misses Jean and Elsie Fiest are visiting Wellington. Mrs A. Tyler is spending a short holiday in Palmerston North.
Mr. and Mrs Connal are away on a motor tour.
Mrs C. Poulter is visiting Christchurch.
Miss Arthur, Ashburton, is the guest of Mrs Keith Arthur.
Mrs Arkle is visits ng Te Puke to visit her mother, who is celebrating her ninetieth birthday shortly. Miss Jean Arkle is on a short visit to Wellington.
Miss Leah Collins, Ashhurst, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs W. Collins.
Miss Beryl Pike and Miss C. Wall, of the staff of the Dental Clinic, Wellington, are spending a holiday in Martinborough.
Mr. and Mrs Stunnell and family are visiting Hastings. Misses Roma and Vida Hore, of Eastbourne, are the guests of Mrs Ronald.
