MARTINBOROUGH EWE FAIR.
DALGETY & CO. LTD. Messrs Dalgety & Co. Ltd. report having held the annual ewe fair at Martinborough yesterday, when sheep came forward well up to advertised numbers. There was a moderate attendance of buyers, and a satisfactory clearance resulted. Most of the lines were secured by local buyers at the following prices:— 6-Year Ewes —Account Est. V. Riddiford, 200 at 21/; account A. Robinson, 211 at 21/4; account Stoney Creek Station, 90 at 20/6. 5-Year Ewes.—Account .Stoney Creek Station, 161 at 23/10. 4-Year Ewes.—Account Stoney Creek Station 100 at 26/sd; ; account F. E. Perry, 58 at 26/3. 4 & 6-th. EWes.—Account F. E. Perry, 62 at 27/-; account Stoney Creek Station, 84 at 25/2; account Tablelands Station, 68 at 23/9. 2-th. Ewes.—Account Mrs. E. G. Elgar, 150 at 35/-; account Tablelands Station, 197 at 33/6 and 289 at 30/-; account F. E. Perry, 51 at 31/3. WRIGHT STEPHENSON & CO., LTD. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—Ewes well in advance of advertised numbers came forward at our Martinborough Ewe Fair yesterday and were offered to a large attendance. A fair proportion of the entry consisted of 6-year-olds and with these buyers showed discretion, competing freely for the better class lines. The competition for the younger ewes was good, a total clearance being effected well up to late rates. Several pens of lambs were offered and elicited keen competition. Prices were:—2-too th ewes, 29/, 30/6 to 33/; 4-tooth to 4-year ewes, to 26/9; m.a. ewes, to 25/; 5-year ewes, 19/6 to 24/9; 5 and 6-year ewes, 18/ to 21/-; f.m. ewes, 14/ to 17/; b.f. lambs, 17/11 to 19/8.
