PETROL PRICES FIXED.

WHOLESALE AND RETAIL. WELLINGTON, February 13. The “Gazette,” issued to-night, fixes the wholesale and retail price of petrol under the Motor Spirits (Regulations of Prices) Act, 1933. Petrol is divided into two classes, standard grade motor spirits and premium (or super) grade motor spirits. The maximum price at which the wholesaler may sell standard grade motor spirits shall be Is 7d per Imperial gallon and premium grade motor spirits Is 8d per gallon. For a purchaser taking four hundred gallons of standard grade motor spirits per month for use in his own business or businesses and not for resale, the maximum wholesale price shall be Is 7Jd a gallon unless the purchaser owns his own pump, in which ease the maximum wholesale price shall be Is 7d per gallon. The price for premium grade is Id per gallon extra. The maximum and minimum price at which the reseller may sell standard grade motor spirits shall be Is to lOd per gallon, and the maximum and minimum price at which the reseller may sell premium grade motor spirits shall be Is lid per gallon. These prices apply only to the. Wellington free delivery district.— (RA.) WAGES INCREASED. WELLINGTON, February 13. The main features of the agreement signed before the Conciliation Commissioner and made between the employers and the employees are that adult employees’ wages shall be raised from £3 15s per week to £4 10s per week and the hours of work reduced from 50 hours per week to 44. Youths’ wages have also been considerably increased and fixed. It is explained that the wages ipc.reases and reduction of working hours apply only to petrol pump attendants and others employed in a similar capacity in service stations and garages. As yet, no increases in wages of oil 1 company employees will be made, their employment being governed by a sep- ’ arate industrial agreement.—(P.A.)
