M.C.C. TOUR.
POVEBTY BAY DEFEATED. A SPORTING DECISION. GISBORNE, February 12. A moderate westerly breeze was the only factor which prevented conditions from being perfect for the resumption of the cricket match between Poverty Bay and the M.C.C. team. Having declared yesterday with five wickets down for 206, the visitors proceeded to dismiss the local team for 105, but this morning, instead of forcing a follow on, they sportingly elected to bat again. The M.C.C. innings was declared closed with nine wickets down for 158 and in the second innings Poverty Bay made 67, the visitors thus winning by 192 runs.
