WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION COMPETITIONS. MASTERTON BEAT GREYTOWN. GAWITH SHIELD MATCH. A grade teams representing the Masterton and Greytown lawn .tennis clubs played a Gawith Shield match on the Masterton Club’s court on Saturday. Play was interrupted by rain late in the afternoon, but not before Masterton had established a decisive lead. With the men’s doubles and combined doubles not played, Masterton were declared the winners by fourteen matches to one. In one of the men’s singles, H. E. Webster (Greytown) retired on account of an injury in the third set, the match being awarded to his opponent. Details are (Masterton players mentioned first in every ease): Men’s Singles.—P.
