GOOD PROGRESS IN TENNIS TOURNEY. WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S FIXTURE. CHAMPIONSHIP AND HANDICAP RESULTS. AU the courts at the disposal of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association were fully taxed yesterday, when play in the annual championship and handicap tournament was continued, every effort 'being made to decide as many games as possible so as to make up the time lost on account of the King’s death and the unfavourable weather. In both the championship and handicap sections a big batch of games was decided and the officials will do their utmost to-day to bring the tourney to a conclusion.

Except for a very brief stoppage in .the morning on account of rain, play proceeded throughout the day without interruption, although towards the end of the afternoon some of the courts were beginning to show signs of use. The standard of tennis was good, and although the contests were naturally only brief ones, some keen tussles were seen in both championship and handicap encounters. Splendid progress was made and with a full day's play today the tourney should be well ad : vanced, if not completed, by this evening. There were no notable defeats in ■the championship section, but in the handicaps a few leading players were vanquished. In spite of the disappointing delays in getting the tourney under way, the competitors appear .to. be enjoying themselves to the full now that a good start has been made.
