The Masterton Amateur Athletic Club’s Anniversary Day meeting has been definitely postponed until Saturday, February 29, provided the Park Oval is available on that day. This decision was made at a meeting of the committee held Inst night.

The following cablegram has been received by Dr. P. Stanley Foster, Governor of the Fifty-third District of Rotary International:—“Deepest sympathy to New Zealand Rotarians in the death of King George from Rotary International.—(Signed) l E. R. Johnson, president; C. R. Perry, secretary.” —(P.A.)

At a special meeting of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association yesterday it was decided to arrange for a visit to Masterton of Henri Cochet, the famous French Davis Cup player, who has turned professional. Cochet will be accompanied by his three partners, Messrs J. Willard, R. O. Cumming and C. Cameron. The visit will probably be made towards the end of February.

Mr. W. M. O’Hara, who made a solo flight across the Tasman Sea from Australia to New Zealand towards the end of last year and who is at present making a tour of the Dominion, will visit Masterton to-morrow. He will be accorded a reception at the Hood Aerodrome and will also be met with a formation flight of Wairarapa Aero Club machines.

The chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, Mr. T. R. Barren, has addressed the following communication to the Prime Mihister (the Hon. M. J. Savage), on behalf of the board: “The chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, having received with the deepest regret the intelligence of the death of his most gracious Majesty King George the Fifth, desires on be‘half of the board to place on record the expression of its deepest sympathy with the members of the Royal Family in their bereavement and of its sorrow in the great loss the Empire has sus : tained by the death of ■ ije beloved King.” Lady’s bicycle wanted.
