Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. on January 21: Barograph, 30.70; shade temperature, maximum 74.4, minimum 46.4; terrestrial, 39; sunshine, 10 hours 54 minutes. January 22: Barograph 30.40; shade temperature: maximum 78.6, minimum, 56.2; terrestrial, 38; sunshine 6 hours 30 minutes; rain, 6 points. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday: Though pressure has fallen in the extreme north an intense anti-cyelone centred to the' eastward, still covers most of the Dominion. Forecast: Winds between south-east and north-east, strong in places about and north of Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate. Weather: Mainly fair in western and southern portions of the South Island, elsewhere cloudy to overcast and in places misty, with scattered rains, more especially over the North Island; temperatures warm. Sun rises 5.15 a.m.; sets 7.51 p.m. Lighting-up time—B.2l p.m.
