“WHITE HORSE INN.”

A MAMMOTH PHODUCTION'. The box plans will be opened at Perry’s an Thursday morning next at 8.30 a.m. for the approaching presentations in the Regent Theatre on Monday night next and on Tuesday afternoon and evening of the gigantic J. C. Williamson Ltd. musical production ‘ White Horse Inn.” This brilliantly spectacular play could not have been presented on a New Zealand tour without two compute revolving stages and cl her duplicate sets of effect-:. A Sydney critic wrote: “It said much for the efficiency of Mr. Locke the producer of “White Horse Inn” that he had installed all this new machinery, which is quite foreign to stage mechanics in J. C. Williamson theatres, and caused it to be operated without even a minor mishap.” Fifteen hundred marvellous costumes, worn and changed at wonderful speed by members of the ballet and others, are described as a supreme achievement in loveliness on the part of Miss Morris, who arranged them, of Herman J. Kaufman, the Berlin costume designer, of Miss Emily Nathan, the wardrobe mistress, who provided additional gorgeous dresses, and of the dancers themselves. The production here will be an exact replica of that which created a profound sensation in Sydney, not one single detail will be eliminated. Miss Romola Hansen has achieved her best success in the role of Josepha, eclipsing even her brilliant representation of Sonia in “The Merry Widow.” Alfred Frith, the comedian of “Goin’ Up,” and Don Nicol, who last appeared here with the J. C. Williamson Musical Comedy Company, both create much merriment in their respective roles, and Alban Mack and the English actress, Marie Conan, are outstanding figures in “White Horse Inn.” Mr. Herbert Browne and Miss Miriam Lester have delightful musical numbers allocated to their roles, and Colin Crane is said to be brilliant in the role of the Emperor Franz Josef. The cast, which is a very long one, also includes Charles Albert, Leanne Battye and Leah Miller. Altogether there are over 150 people concerned in the representation of “White Horse Inn.” The company will arrive by special train from Hastings on Sunday next, at 5.15 p.m.
