PERSONAL.

The funeral of the late Miss F. L. Jackson, at the Masterton Cemetery on Saturday, was very largely attended, particularly by settlers from the East Coast district. Many beautiful wreatka were received, showing the esteem in which the late Miss Jackson was held. The service was conducted by the Bev. E. J. Rich. The pall bearers were relatives and friends of the late Miss Jackson and her family. The funeral of the late Mr. Arthur Hoar, which took place at the Masterton Cemetery on Friday afternoon, was very largely attended. Services at the house and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. G. F. Stockwell, assisted by the Rev. Mr. McDonald. The pall-bearers were Messrs F. G. Butter, L. Matthews, W. Greig, B. Melvin, W. Thornton and Andrew Donald. The large number of beautiful wreaths included tributes from the Methodist Church trustees, Methodist Choir, Methodist Sunday School, Rechabite Lodge, Red Star Cricket Club, Bed Star Football Club, United Cricket Club, Lansdowne Cricket Club, and the staff of Messrs Borthwick and Sons, Ltd. Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Gooding entertained a very large number of friends from various parts of the Wairarapa at a most enjoyable party held at their residence, “Kaola,” Essex Street, oa Saturday night. The principal guests of the evening were Mr. L. Roach, former Wairarapa representative' footballer, and Miss J. Aitken, whose marriage takes place at the end of the month. A very pleasant evening was spent in games and dancing. Following supper the usual toasts were honoured, eulogistic references being made to the fine personal qualifications of Mr. Roach and Miss Aitken, who received many beautiful presents accompanied by good wishes for their future happiness. Mr. Roach briefly replied on behalf of Miss Aitken and himself.
