WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30.45; shade temperature, maximum, 57.2; minimum, 30.4; terrestrial, 22.4; sunshine, 8 hours; frost, 8 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows:—An anti-cyclone envelops the Dominion, its centre lying to the west of the Auckland Peninsula. A depression located over South-Eastern Australia appears to have been losing intensity, while pressure is relatively low also across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, southerly at first in the far north; otherwise westerly to north-westerly prevailing; light to moderate mainly, but strong in Foreaux Strait and freshening also about Cook Strait. Weather: Still fine in most districts, but cloudy in western areas from Taranaki southwards; with some scattered rains in Westland and the far south. Mild temperatures. Sun rises, 6.49 a.m.; sets, 5.3 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.33 p.m.
