WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 30.10; shade temperature, maximum, 59.2; minimum, 52; terrestrial, 49; sunshine, 12 minutes; rain, 24 points. Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 26 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows: —An extensive westerly depression covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Winds, north-westerly, backing to westerly and in places south-westerly, moderate to strong generajly and gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Castlejoint. Weather: Changeable and squally, with rain at times in most districts, some heavy falls in western and southern portions of the South Island; temperatures becoming cooler. Sun rises, 7.4 a.m.; sets, 4.32 pan. Lighting-up time, 5.2 p.m.
