DAVIS CUP.

HOPMAN’S VIEW OF ANDREWS. LONDON, May 7. Mr. Wallis Myers, the well-known tennis authority, writing in “The Daily Telegraph,” says that while an Australian victory in the first round of the Davis Cup competition can be confidently predicted on relative form, Stedman will not be easily beaten by Australia’s second singles player. Australia will also need its best effort to win the doubles. Mr. H. Mopman, the “Sun-Herald's” representative, writing from Eastbourne, says, “Andrews is the only New Zealander here. I practised singles with him and found his forehand good but his backhand weak.- He needs much practice in order to hold our best. Malfroy and Stedman arrive to-night.”
