QUEENSLAND DROUGHT.

MILLIONS OF SHEEP LOST. WORST SETBACK IN HISTORY OF INDUSTRY. GOVERNMENT AID SOUGHT. BRISBANE, May 6. So great have been the ravages cf drought in the western interior that it is estimated that between 5,000,000 and 6,000,000 sheep have died. This is the greatest setback the pastoral industry of Queensland has ever experienced. Over 10,000 cattle and 260,000 sheep have been removed from the drought area. On two trains last week more than 1000 dead sheep were put off. The president of the Graziers’ Association, Mr. N. Bourke, after a tour of the area, said that, the matter was one for the State and Federal Governments.
