WELUCNGTOMT COLLEGE MAKE FINE BEOOVERY. WAIRARAPA BATSMEN FAIL. Wellington’s remarkable recovery in their first innings and the failure of the home side to knock-up any sort of a total in their second strike were features of the annual match between the first elevens of the Wairarapa High School and Wellington College, which was concluded at the School grounds yesterday. Wellington had an easy win by 9 wickets. In their first strike Wairarapa made 184 and when play was resumed yesterday morning Wellington had made 34 runs for the loss of four wickets. For a time they did not fare too well and at one stage had lost six wickets for 71 runs. Dyhrberg and Young, however, were associated in a splendid seventh wicket partnership which stopped the rot and carried the score to 235 before Dyhrberg was bowled by Roche. He played a valuable innings for 84. The innings closed for 252 kuns, Young being unbeaten for 74. Bowling for Wairarapa Parsonson took 5 wickets for 68 runs and Munn secured three for 56. Wairarapa collapsed in their second innings, which realised only 77 runs. Roche, a first year boy, top-seored with 16. Bush finished up with the good bowling average of 6 ■for 36 while Young took 3 for 29 runs. In their second innings Wellington made 12 runs for the loss of one wicket. Details:— WAIRARAPA.
