Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a-m. yesterday: Barograph, 30.30; shade temperature, maximum 63.4, minimum 37.2; terrestrial, 34.4; sunshine, 8 hours 42 minutes. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows:—The anti-cyclone over New Zealand is losing its intensity; a deep depression is centred over Tasmania. Forecast: Winds variable over the North Island, with southerlies predominating at first, northerlies prevailing in and south of Cook Strait and freshening. Weather: Rain developing about Foveaux Strait, extending along West Coast of the South Island, elsewhere fair to fine, with rising temperatures.
