Masterton: Miss R. Robinsen report- - ed as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:-—Barograph, 30.28; shade temperature, maximum, 74.4; minimum, 55; terrestrial, 49.6; sunshine, 3 hours 48 minutes. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows:—The northern depression is now centred west of Cape Maria van Diemen while an anticyclone is still located east of the South Island; the pressure has risen over south-eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds easterly to northerly, strong to gale force north of New Plymouth and Napier, elsewhere light to moderate but freshening, veering to south-easter-ly soon in the far south and southerlies becoming general after about 34 hours. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, rain over 1, the northern half of the North Island, with some heavy falls and extending * gradually over most of the Dominion; temperatures warm but becoming coldj er during to-morrow in the South Island.
