Mr. Purdie, who has been a member of tha committee of the Memorial Tennis Club, theJYairarapa Badminton Association, Vmter Sports Club, the Wai rarapa itigh School Old Boys’ Association and the Cranford Badminton dub, will leave Masterton in about a fortnight. His many friends will regret his impending departure but will wish him well in his new position. Sister M. Paterson gave an afternoon at the Masterton Hospital recently to enable ex-nurses to bid Miss K. L Barnitt, the Matron, bon voyage and a safe return. The gathering was in a fc’tPPy, reminiscent mood and a very pleasant time was spent. Another happy function, a fancy dress party, was held in the Nurses’ Home on Tuesday evening to farewell the Matron. Many amusing items were rendered during the evening. Miss Barnitt was the recipient of several tokens of goodwill from the nurses and other members of the staff and there was much evidence of the of the guest of the evening.
