SIR ALEXANDER GODLEY.

VISIT TO MASTEBTON NEXT MONDAY. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOCIAL EVENING. At last night’s meeting of the Wairarapa RjS.A., a letter was receiveci from the Dominion Headquarters, New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, intimating that General Sir A. J. God ley, late General Officer, commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, 1914-1918, would be visiting Masterton on Monday, March 11, and that Sir Alexander Godley had expressed his desire to meet as many ex-service men as possible. It was decided to hold a receiption to the General in the form of a social concert in the Municipal Hall at 8 p.m., and to extend an invitation to all exmembers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and the South African War Veterans’ Association to attend. A programme of musical and vocal items is to be arranged, and an opportunity will. be given the General of making personal contact with every exsoldier present. It is desired to make the function a Wairarapa affair, and as Sir Alexander Godley is not staying in other Wairarapa centres, that ex-sol-diers in various parts of the district will make a point of being present. An invitation was extended to the Eiketahuna returned soldiers to come to Masterton. During his short stay in the Wairarapa. General Godley will be the guest of Mrs. Charles Elgar, at Featherston.
