PERSONAL.

The friends of Mr. Raymond Lee will regret to learn of the death of hie mother which occurred during the week-end.

Mr. P. A. Macomish, formerly of the Masterton Publie Trust Office, and now a member of the staff of that Department in Dunedin, is at present on a visit to Mastertoil.

Mr. Steel, accountant at the Mastertoifr’cranch of the Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd., is on three weeks annual furlough, and is being relieved by Mr. W. A. Edwards, of Wellington.

The many friends of Mr. Arthur Williams will regret to learn that he has resigned his seat on the Wellington Education Board, the Central School Committee and the Dental Clinic Committee. Mr. Williams is still an inmate at the Masterton Hospital and though making satisfactory progress toward recovery it will be some considerable time before he will be allowed to participate in the affairs he has been actively engaged in for so many years. An interesting visitor to Masterton this week will be Mr. J. C. Fishenden, vice-president of the Central Executive of the Royal Life Saving Society in London. Mr. Fishenden is tonring New Zealand and has been taking a keen interest in the work of surf clubs. He will arrive from Napier on Thursday, accompanied by Mr. W. Billaon, New Zealand president of the society, and will give an address on life saving at Solway College in the evening.

Mr. E. W. Pearce, who has been manager of Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., for the past 4} years, has received notice of his transfer to the head office at Wellington. The transfer is to talqe effect from April 1. Mr. Pearce returns to the office where he commenced as a boy in 1911, after having been stationed at the Wanganui and Masterton branches. During his residence in Masterton Mr. Pearce has made hosts of friends who will learn with regret of his departure. He has been prominent in tennis and golfing circles and has been for three years a member of the committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association. In succession to Mr. Pearce, Mr. A. D. 8. Duncan, the well known golfer, will assume the managership of the Masterton branch.
