WAIRARAPA LAKE.

CONTINUED FALL IN LEVEL. EFFECT OF TURANG'ANUI DIVERSION. The level of the Wairarapa Lake is falling following on the reopening of the outlet on Sunday night. Mr. J. Carne Bidwill stated last evening that the level at his place had fallen seven inches in the preceding twenty-four hours. At the time when the outlet was opened on Sunday, the lake level was 5 feet 6 inches above its mean summer level.

The fall now reached is considered by Mr. E. F. Barton very notable. He observed last evening that the fall showed the good effect of the Turanganui River diversion. A return was being made to the conditions of many years ago, before the Turanganui blocked the Narrows channel.
