Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m.:—
August 18: Barograph, 30.05; shade temperature: maximum 50.8, minimum 31.4; terrestrial, 41.2; sunshine, 42 minutes; rain, 33 points.
August 19: Barograph, 30.20; shade temperature, maximum 45.2, minimum 42; terrestrial, 44; sunshine, 2 hours 30 minutes.
Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 47 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Eidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday as follows.—General situation: A moderate anti-cyclone covers the north Tasman and New Zealand while a slight depression is advancing across the South Tasman. Forecast: Winds north-westerly to westerly, moderate mainly but freshening somewhat in and south of Cook Strait. Weathers Mainly fair to line, becoming unsettled to-morrow in western districts from Taranaki to Southland and the far south, with rain in (places.: temperatures mild.
