NAVAL DISCUSSIONS

PARITY DEMAND EXPECTED FROM JAPAN. NO HOPE OF SUCCESSFUL CONFERENCE. TO BRITISH LABOUR PAPER. LONDON, July 16. The naval conversations have been adjourned till October owing to delay in the arrival of the Japanese delegation as a result of the change of Government in Japan. The Ajnericans are returning to Washington to-morrow. The “Daily Herald’s” diplomatic correspondent says that Britain, at Japan’s demand, has postponed the, naval disarmament conversations till October, consequently the Anglo-Ame-rican talks have abruptly ended. Japan will insist on complete parity with Britain and the United States, otherwise she will denounce the Washington and London Treaties in order to regain freedom of action. This destroys all hope of a suecbssful conference in 1935.
