CUT NOT RESTORED.

HOSPITAL BOARD ’S ACTION CRITICISED. CHRISTCHURCH, July 16. The City Council by nine votes to six carried a resolution expressing regret that the North Canterbury Hospital Board had declined to restore part at least of the wage cut to its junior employees. Mention was made chiefly of the trainee nurses, who receive £22 yearly. The motion was introduced by the Rev. J. K. Archer, who is also a member of the hospital board. He argued that the City Council, being the biggest contributor to the funds of the hospital board, was entitled to pass a resolution commenting on the action of the board. The division was on party lines, Labour members supporting the motion.—(PA!.)
