FLOCK HOUSE BOYS.
SETTLEMENT ON WAIKATO PROPERTY. PANETAPU STATION BOUGHT. PALMERSTON N., May 3. The trustees of Flock House announce the purchase from Dr. H. Gribben, of Hamilton, of Panetapu Station, an area of 2316 acres of improved land 18 miles south-east of Te Awamutu. The purchase has been made by a selected group of twenty young men, all old Flock House boys, who have been in farm station employment in New Zealand for a number of years and have individually saved from their wages sums sufficient to enable them, with the trustees’ assistance, to make a start on the land for themselves. The young men will 4ake delivery of the land and stock on June 1, and will proceed to subdivide the property • into twenty or more farms, of which the greater number will be ready for individual occupation within twelve months.
The land is described as easy and of excellent quality. The trustees state that the property was acquired at a most reasonable price, based on present market conditions for produce. They intend to stand behind the new settlers till they are on their feet, and have no doubt whatever -that the settlement will -be most successful. • This development will increase the number of old Flock House boys who have been enabled by hard work and thrift to make a successful start on the land to over fifty. It is most probable that the trustees will promote further similar group settlements as others of their young men arrive at the same stage as the present selected group.—(P.A.)
